Active affordable living

Fig & Manchester is a mixed-use affordable housing project located just north of the intersection of Figueroa St. and Manchester Blvd. in South Los Angeles. The project was conceived to synergistically address several major issues plaguing low-income populations of Los Angeles including:

  • The Affordable Housing crisis
  • Alleviating “Food Desert” conditions
  • Providing a desirable healthy and active lifestyle
  • Facilitates access to both preventative and acute medical care
  • Job creation

Consisting of 154 Senior-living units and 101 family units, the 6-story development sits on a footprint of 45,500 square feet and includes ground floor and second floor commercial space including a 40,000 square foot health and wellness facility, a 36,000 square foot supermarket and a 10,000 square foot satellite medical facility. Floors 3 through 6 consist of a mix of senior
and family affordable housing rental units.
The rooftop houses a 20,000 square foot hydro/aeroponic urban garden configured to yield 200 tons of produce annually and sustainably. The 258,030 square foot mixed-use building along with the accompanying 6-story, 425-car parking garage are financed primarily through Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and Low Income Housing Bonds.
